While we cannot cure autism, we can help autistic people feel more comfortable in our communities. To achieve this, we all need to better understand neurodiversity and the broad autism spectrum. Every stage of life brings new challenges for autistic individuals. In school, they may need a quieter corner. In university, a consistent schedule can be important. At work, they may need understanding regarding their personal strengths and weaknesses. Sometimes, only small changes to the environment are needed that autistic people would feel accepted without needing to mask their true selves.
Many books about autism spectrum disorder you can find on the EBSCOhost platform. Simply type “autism” into the search bar and you will get access to more than 100 full-text books published in the past five years.
