October 20th, 2022, 15:00 hrs., in MRU's I-201 aud., there will be an event marking the 90th jubilee anniversary of Lithuania's first Head of State after Restoration of Independence, MRU Honorary Doctor Prof. Vytautas Landsbergis.
The event, "Lithuania's Independence, Constitution, Democracy," will be held in a University auditorium that will be renamed the Prof. Vytautas Landsbergis auditorium.
The path of Lithuania’s Independence, Constitution and Democracy is inseparable from exceptional personalities who mobilized the Lithuanian people to seek freedom. At the event, the restoration of Lithuania's Independence, the Constitution and the country's path of Democracy, and future perspectives will be discussed.
This year, the centenary of the 1922 Constitution of the Republic of Lithuania is celebrated and the thirtieth anniversary of the current Constitution commemorated. A little more than 30 years have passed since the restoration of Lithuania's independence and new threats face Europe. Together, this can be resolved with other democratic states, the European Union and NATO partners. What determines the path of Lithuania, how to confront emerging challenges and what is Lithuania's role in ensuring freedom and democracy in Europe and the world will be discussed.
