The Senate of Mykolas Romeris University (MRU) decided to confer the title of Honorary Doctor to the President of Latvia, Egils Levits.

May 5th, 2022, 15:30-16:30 hrs., at MRU, an Honorary Doctorate of MRU will be awarded to the President of Latvia for his significant contribution to the democratic processes in the Baltic region, the promotion of the rule of law, the protection of human rights and the ideas of European integration, the European standards for the protection of human rights and the jurisprudential law of the European Union, as well as for his outstanding scientific works in the fields of constitutionalism, administrative law, legal reforms and EU law.

"The role of the President of Latvia in the process of restoration of the independence of the Baltic States, his activities in strengthening democracy and protection of human rights have contributed significantly not only to the development of democratic processes, statehood, constitutionalism and the international role of the State of Latvia, but also of Lithuania. His activities are widely recognized internationally," – said MRU Rector Prof. Dr. Inga Žalėnienė.
