Project No. Nr: 2022-1-BG01-KA220-HED-000085821
Project title: „Boosting the green future via university micro-credentials (B-GREEN-ED)”
Project duration: from 2022-11-01 to 2024-10-31
Project manager: prof. dr. Irena Zemaitaityte
Summary: The main objective of the project is to boost the European green economy and climate neutrality through the development of innovative HE practices related to the implementation of micro-credentials designed in cooperation with European standards bodies that meet the market needs and facilitate the provision of flexible, accessible, and inclusive education in relevant industry/sector standards that support the transition to a green and digital economy.
This objective will be achieved by reinforcing the design and outreach of flexible digital educational practices that harness the resilience of university institutions to different pedagogical scenarios, facilitate educational access and support inclusion and diversity.
A methodology based on microlearning and on critical, social and network pedagogical models will be proposed as a precondition to better accommodate the needs of a wider range of learners in HE – strategic aim supported by EC as part of the European Education Area implementation. The traditional educational degrees will be supplemented with new and shorter forms of provision reskill and upskill through more flexible alternatives to overcome the gap between the learning outcomes of initial formal qualifications and emerging skills needs in the labor market in line with the European industrial strategy for a transition towards climate neutrality and digital leadership based on standards as a strategic tool to deepening the single market, underpin innovation and strengthen the competitive advantage. The project will design and develop digital micro-credential courses in management, environmental and green standards, translated in partner languages and English, intended to improve/develop specific skills and competencies related to standards and for this reason, the learning content will be created with substantial input from the European standards bodies in collaboration with the academic staff, which is a guarantee for high quality, accuracy, relevance and completeness of the learning content.
The developed micro-credential courses will be envisaged in the unique context to the overall mission of the universities involved and approved according to their policies and procedures, consistent with their strategic goals and will be validated via approbation with groups of students in all universities involved.
The micro-credential methodology and courses in management, green and environmental standards will be subject to dissemination and inspiration of future transfer and exploitation to other fields of education – flexible learning pathways, digital learning, and more inclusive curricula and pedagogy, both for students and professionals which is in line with the policy framework at both EU and national levels to support the development and implementation of flexible, lifelong reskilling and upskilling pathways gained in importance in the context of the Europe 2030 Strategy and the updated Skills.
The project is funded by the Erasmus+ KA2-Cooperation Partnerships programme.
