Project No. 09.3.3-LMT-K-712-01-0068
Project title: „Critical thinking in higher education: a study and labour market perspective ”.
Project duration: from 2017-12-27 to 2021-12-26.
Project manager: doc. dr. Asta Railienė.

Summary: The aim of the project is to investigate the relevance of the studies to the labour market’s demand for KM skills. For the first time, the project will provide in-depth analyses of KM education in higher education, and of employers’ and employees’ attitudes towards KM, based on a wide range of empirical material and an integrated research instrument. It will assess the fit between KM education in HE and the practical application of KM skills in the workplace.

Result to be achieved: The study will contribute to a new approach to KM education research by showing that: a) KM can be studied beyond rigid and inflexible theoretical constructs; b) KM education is not only the object of psychological research and the measurement of cognitive abilities; c) the relevance of KM education is revealed through concrete empirical experiences; and d) theories of KM can be enriched by a new, multifaceted approach. The results of the study will contribute to a clearer agreement between academia, education and the world of work on what KM is and how it should be developed; to the updating of curricula; to the emergence of new research; and to the clarification and reinforcement of educational policies.

Achieved results: The research carried out in the framework of the project “Critical Thinking in Higher Education: a Study and Labour Market Perspective” (No. 09.3.3-LMT-K-712-01-0068) allowed the researchers to analyse how critical thinking is actualized in the scientific literature, in the descriptions of the study programmes, in the attitudes and experiences of teachers and students, employers and employees, and also to reveal some important problematic aspects, for which the researchers made proposals in the recommendations they developed. The recommendations are available here
