UPinLT project for MRU international students!  

Mykolas Romeris University has been awarded 47 grants for the additional practice for international students and recent graduates in UPinLT project. The goal of the UPinLT project is to provide support to foreign students and graduates of Lithuanian higher education institutions to successfully integrate them into the Lithuanian labour market. The grants are for additional practice (outside the study program) in companies and organizations operating in Lithuania. The practice must be related to the study field and international students will have an additional opportunity to develop their professional knowledge and skills, acquire Lithuanian language skills and gain valuable work experience as well as to establish professional contacts. To be eligible for the program, the candidates must be: Mykolas Romeris University students studying in the first or second cycle of studies or integral studies (with the exception of first-year students) or Mykolas Romeris University recent graduates. The duration of the practice is 2-4 months with the commitment of no less than 20 hours per week for students and no less than 30 hours per week for graduates. This is paid practice and the grant paid by the university to student/graduate is 650 Eur per month.

Implementation  of the UPinLT Project at Mykolas Romeris University

Mykolas Romeris University (MRU) successfuly completed  the UPinLT project, which concludes on November 30. Through this initiative, MRU awarded 51 grants for supplementary internships, providing international degree-seeking students and recent graduates with opportunities to gain professional experience, enhance their skills, and integrate into the Lithuanian labor market.

Key Achievements:

  1. Internship Placements: A total of 51 students and recent graduates completed internships in 45 different organizations across Lithuania. Notably, some organizations hosted multiple interns, such as:

    • UAB Yara Lietuva (6 interns)
    • UAB „Nauja oda eshop“ (5 interns)
    • Vilniaus Gabrielės Petkevičaitės-Bitės suaugusiųjų mokymo centras (3 interns)
    • Lietuvos kokybės vadybos ir inovacijų asociacija (2 interns)
    • Kazimiero Simonavičiaus universitetas (2 interns)
    • Vaiko gerovės institutas, Kauno arkivyskupijos Caritas (2 interns)
    • VšĮ Vyriausybės strateginės analizės centras (2 interns)
    • UAB „DHL Logistics Lietuva“ (2 interns).
  2. Relevance to Study Fields: All internships were closely aligned with the students’ academic disciplines, ensuring their work contributed to both their educational and career development.

  3. Career Development: The program helped participants establish valuable professional networks, improve their Lithuanian language skills, and gain insights into the Lithuanian labor market. Many interns have used this experience as a stepping stone to secure employment in Lithuania or pursue higher levels of education.

  4. Practical Support: Each internship lasted 2, 3 or 4 months, with a commitment of 20 hours per week for students and 30 hours per week for graduates. Participants received a monthly grant of €650, ensuring the internships were both practical and financially accessible.

Project Impact:

The UPinLT project has been a significant step in fostering the integration of international students and graduates into Lithuanian society. By providing real-world experience and professional connections. The program has strengthened the employability of participants enriched the Lithuanian labor market.

MRU expresses gratitude to all partner organizations, including academic institutions, NGOs, and private companies, for their collaboration in this meaningful initiative. The project’s success reflects the university’s commitment to supporting its international community and enhancing their contributions to Lithuania’s socio-economic development.
