About the project: The study will examine the grounds for refusal of recognition and enforcement of foreign judgments as set out in the Hague Convention on the Recognition and Enforcement of Foreign Judgments. Recognition and Enforcement of Foreign Judgments, the Brussels Ibis Regulation and US law. The study will examine how international private law and the common law tradition, the grounds for the recognition of foreign judgments are interpreted and applied. It will examine which grounds for non-recognition of foreign judgments are provided for in these legal systems, what they similarities and differences, and how the interpretation and application of the grounds for non-recognition of foreign judgments have evolved historically. It will also examine the impact on the recognition and enforcement of foreign judgments in private international law of the Hague Convention on the entry into force of the Hague Convention on the Recognition and Enforcement of Foreign Judgments.
