Mykolas Romeris University (MRU) maintains a strong position among the top 250 universities worldwide in the field of law, while also reaching a new level of recognition—for the first time, its economics studies have been ranked globally.
On March 12, 2025, the updated QS World University Rankings by Subject were announced, evaluating universities based on specific study and research areas. MRU has consistently ranked as the top university in Lithuania for law studies, placing 201–250 globally. This year, the university expanded its recognition even further—economics studies have been ranked both nationally and internationally. In Lithuania, MRU became the fourth university to enter this ranking, while globally, it was placed 551–700.
MRU Vice-Rector for Studies, Prof. Dr. Natalija Kaminskienė, emphasizes that these high rankings reflect the university's continuous efforts to enhance study quality and strengthen research.
"I am delighted that MRU's law studies have been recognized in the prestigious QS global rankings for several years. This year, the news is even more exciting as our economics studies have also been ranked for the first time. These achievements confirm that MRU’s law and economics programs meet the highest international academic standards and equip students with the skills to grow, develop, and become competitive professionals both in Lithuania and globally. I extend my gratitude to everyone contributing to our success," said Prof. Dr. Natalija Kaminskienė.
Dean of the Faculty of Public Governance and Business, Prof. Dr. Danguolė Jankauskienė, highlights that MRU’s entry into the QS World University Rankings by Subject 2025 for economics is a significant milestone for both the academic community and prospective students.
"This ranking confirms that our university successfully develops competitive study programs aligned with the needs of the global job market. Future students can be assured that by choosing MRU, they will receive a world-class education," stated Prof. Dr. Danguolė Jankauskienė.
The QS rankings evaluate social sciences disciplines based on five key criteria, including research impact and quality. One of the most important indicators, Citations per Paper, reflects the significance of an institution's research. In 2024, MRU’s law studies had a citation index of 57.3, which has now risen to 59.4. Additionally, the H-index, which measures academic impact based on the number of cited works, saw a significant increase from 41.6 to 52.4.
Although economics studies have been ranked for the first time, they have already demonstrated outstanding results. The Citations per Paper score for economics reached 67.9, surpassing even the law discipline. These results confirm that MRU is not only maintaining its strong position in law studies but also rapidly advancing in the field of economics. Moving forward, the university will continue to enhance research quality, expand international collaborations, and ensure a competitive, future-oriented study experience.
