The second semester at Mykolas Romeris University (MRU) has started with two international joint master’s programs – Erasmus-Mundus GOALS (Governance & Administration of Leisure and Sports) and "Public Administration Legal Regulation and Human Rights", conducted in cooperation with Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv. These programs attract students from various countries, offering them the opportunity to deepen their knowledge in an international academic environment and develop intercultural competencies.
On February 4, the International Office organized an orientation day, where students were introduced to the university’s academic activities, study organization, and available services. The new members of the academic community were welcomed by representatives of the International Office, who also provided practical information about life in Lithuania. Additionally, representatives from the 112 emergency services attended the event to inform students about safety measures, emergency response procedures, and necessary actions in case of an accident.
During the official part of the event, students of the GOALS program were welcomed by Prof. Dr. Danguolė Jankauskienė, Dean of the Faculty of Public Governance and Business, who wished them a successful start to their studies and emphasized the importance of sports and leisure management in modern society. Prof. Dr. Vilma Čingienė, the program director, also attended the event and addressed the students.
Meanwhile, students of the "Public Administration Legal Regulation and Human Rights" program from Ukraine were greeted by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Jolanta Apolewicz, Vice-Dean for International Relations and International Studies at the School of Law. She expressed her support for Ukrainian students, highlighted the significance of their studies in the context of international legal regulation, and encouraged them to actively engage in the academic community.
The orientation day provided an excellent opportunity for students to get acquainted with the university environment, meet faculty members, learn about study administration, and establish initial connections with their peers. It is expected that this experience will help students integrate more smoothly into academic life and that their studies at Mykolas Romeris University will be filled with new knowledge, experiences, and professional opportunities.
