“Lawyers4Ukraine”: Helping Veronika and Oleksandr Start a New Life

We would like to inform you that the “Lawyers4Ukraine” campaign to support Ukrainian children affected by Russian aggression has been extended until the New Year.

Thanks to the “Lawyers4Ukraine” initiative and in cooperation with the international organization “Doctors Without Borders,” Ukrainian children — 11-year-old Veronika and 4-year-old Oleksandr from Chernihiv — have already arrived in Lithuania for treatment and have been safely handed over to medical professionals. These children, injured during Russian attacks on civilians, suffered severe wounds and burns. In collaboration with Santaros Clinics, comprehensive medical examinations have been conducted, and essential treatment and rehabilitation have commenced.

Doctors note that the boy’s condition is more stable — he is lively and friendly. However, Veronika requires long-term assistance. Her health is burdened not only by physical injuries but also by other conditions that need urgent treatment.

The fundraising campaign for Ukrainian children’s treatment and rehabilitation has been extended until December 31 to cover the costs of initial treatment, further rehabilitation, emotional support, and social integration. Funds are being raised to ensure that Veronika and Oleksandr receive the comprehensive care they desperately need.

The Christmas season symbolizes hope and kindness. Veronika’s and Oleksandr’s treatment in Lithuania represents a beacon of hope that life can return to normal. We invite you to join this noble mission and help ensure that these children have a chance to live without pain or fear.

The initiative to help Ukrainian children began in early November when Mykolas Romeris University (MRU) united the Lithuanian legal community under the “Lawyers4Ukraine” initiative. This initiative aims to bring together legal professionals from Lithuania and other countries to jointly support Ukraine and its people affected by the consequences of aggression.

One of the first activities of the initiative is raising funds for affected Ukrainian children, encouraging society to show solidarity and contribute to helping Veronika and Oleksandr, who have experienced the devastating effects of war. Part of the funds was raised during an auction featuring unique artworks and historical relics connected to Ukraine’s fight for freedom. Partners such as the Lithuanian Chamber of Bailiffs, the Lithuanian Chamber of Notaries, law firms “Cobalt,” “TGS Baltic,” and “Ader,” as well as private and legal entities from Lithuania and abroad, have also supported this initiative.

To date, more than 42,000 euros have been raised for the treatment and rehabilitation of the siblings from Chernihiv in Lithuania.
