October – Dyslexia Awareness Month
EBSCO
Dyslexics have difficulty recognizing words accurately and quickly. Students with dyslexia tend to think in pictures rather than words, which makes it easier for them to accept visual and graphic information. They often have excellent construction skills, out-of-the-box thinking, and atypical problem solving. So they have a great time in college. Not really. The problem is that most of the information in college is written, and you have to read hundreds of pages during the academic year. Use databases to learn more about dyslexia (EBSCO has over 200 e-books on dyslexia), and if you have trouble reading, try listening. Use the Edge browser to open books or articles. Use the "read aloud" feature. Documents must be in PDF format.
