MRU ranks high in the rankings of UI Greenmetric, an international university sustainability rating agency

MRU sustainability efforts were also evaluated by the global university ranking agency UI Greenmetric for the third time. This year, 1183 universities around the world were ranked according to their environmental contribution and impact on education and research, settings and infrastructure, energy and climate change, waste, water and transportation.  In 2023 MRU was awarded the 547th position and its position is increasing every year: in 2021 MRU was ranked the 692nd position and 570th position in 2022.  According to the UI Greenmetric evaluation, MRU has the greatest environmental and social impact on sustainability educaiton and research, energy and climate change, and waste management. Noteworthy, MRU e-waste management efforts were recognized among the top 3 best practices in the world. More detailed information can be found here. You can access the certificate here.

MRU operates according to the 2021-2023 Strategy for Sustainable Activities approved by the Senate. During the ranking period 85% of study programmes and 65% of research publications were devoted to the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals, 47% of all MRU public procurements were green, scientific and educational events were organized, international and national projects on different aspects of sustainable development were implemented. A solar energy park has been installed on the roofs of MRU student dormitories, paper and plastic consumption reduced to a minimum, over 40 % of waste is sorted, bicycle parking and electric vehicle charging stations installed for the convenience and sustainable behaviour of students and staff. In order to build a safe and cohesive community, MRU operates in accordance with the Equal Opportunities and Diversity Policy, the Procedure for Preventing Harassment, Sexual Harassment or Stalking and the Procedure for Assessment and Investigation of Psychological Violence Cases.
