MRU Prof. Pereira Ranked 1st Among Environmental Sciences Researchers in Lithuania

Mykolas Romeris University (MRU) Prof. Paulo Pereira, Head of the Environmental Management LAB, has been ranked the best Environmental Sciences scientist in Lithuania by Research.com. 

Prof. Pereira is ranked first nationally and 4985 in the world in the field of Environmental Sciences with 201 publications and 5,755 citations.

The 2nd edition of the Research.com ranking of the best scientists in the field of Environmental Sciences is based on data from various data sources including OpenAlex and CrossRef.

He is a geographer and a full professor at Mykolas Romeris University and an invited full professor at China's Beijing Normal University.

His areas of research include: land degradation, fire effects on the ecosystems and ecosystem services and Nature-Based Solutions.

Prof. Pereira has published more than 460 publications in books, peer-reviewed articles and conferences. He is the recipient of several international prizes (the “European Geosciences Union Soil System Sciences Division Outstanding Young Scientist Award”). In 2020, he was recognized was as one of the world’s most cited researchers (Clarivate Analytics Highly Cited Researcher. In 2021, he was elected a full member of the world’s most prestigious scientific research honour society Sigma Xi and recognized as one of the top (1%) researchers writing about soil in the past ten years (2011-2021), according to “Expertscape”. In 2022, Prof. Pereira was listed as among the world’s 2% top scientists, according to Elsevier/Stanford University in the field of environmental sciences.

He is an associated editor of the Science of the Total Environment, Geography and Sustainability and Heliyon.
