World University ratings agency, “Times Higher Education“ (THE) has named the higher education institutions with the greatest impact on sustainable development successfully implementing the United Nations (UN) Sustainable Development Goals (SDG). In THE 2022 Impact Rankings, for the first time Mykolas Romeris University (MRU) was highly rated.
MRU was rated in the areas of quality education, sustainable cities and communities, peace, justice and strong institutions and partnerships in achieving goals. The highest scores (59 out of 100) is focused on MRU‘s impact on creating peace, justice and strong institutions. The University ranks among the world‘s 301-400 most influential universities in this field. Expert services for regional and national authorities were evaluated (drafting of legislation, participation in working groups, consultations) studies, training and educational activities for policy makers and public administration staff, cooperation with public authorities in the field of research, neutral, safe and pro-democracy platforms and spaces for public debate between politicians, public authorities and various stakeholders on issues of public matters.
Implementing the Senate-approved 2021-2023 sustainable development strategy, Mykolas Romeris University has focused much attention to the implementation of Green University principles, and the economic and social impact of the University on the community and the general public. We are pleased that our achievements are recognized internationally. This assessment obliges us to deepen our understanding and expand our knowledge about the goals of sustainable development, to integrate them into study programmes, to conduct research and projects, organize conferences, seminars, summer schools, community trainings and educational activities, said MRU Rector Prof. Dr. Inga Žalėnienė.
The “Times Higher Education“ agency from 2019 has evaluated the contribution of universities to the implementation of sustainable goal development on the national and international level and the progress of strategic partnerships.
The 2022 Impact Rankings is the 4th edition and the overall ranking includes 1,406 universities from 106 countries/regions.
