January 22nd, 2015, during its first meeting, the Mykolas Romeris University (MRU) Council elected former Education & Science Minister Roma Žakaitienė Council Chairman.
Council members pledged to be guided by University and public interests and to undertake their duties in line with the Law on Education and Studies.
According to the Statute, the MRU Council has 9 members of which 4 are delegated by the University community and 4 by the Senate following an open competition from a list of persons not affiliated with MRU.
The MRU Student Representative Body (MRUSA) appoints a member. They delegated former MRUSA President Laurynas Juozapaitis.
The University community delegated Prof. Leta Dromantienė, Prof. Saulius Greičius, Prof. Emeritus Vytautas Pakalniškis and Law Prof. Emeritus Juozas Žilys.
The other 4 members include: Lithuanian Business Support Agency Law Dept. Legal Officer Jovydas Dumarkas, the former Seimas member Česlovas Juršėnas, Lithuania's Independence Act signatory Gediminas Vagnorius, and former Seimas member, ex-Education and Science Minister, now Association of Local Authorities in Lithuania (LSA) Director Roma Žakaitienė.
During the meeting, MRU's String Quartet performed.
